Waiters can use Phones to receive the email messages, but we've found the Smart Watch to be perfect for this. All the waiters have to do is Pair their SmartPhone to a Cheap SmartWatch, and Enable Email Notifications.
The Phone|Watch pair uses Notifications, like this:
Waiters wear the Watch on their wrist, and place the Phone nearby (bluetooth).
When the Phone gets an Email Message, the Watch will receive a Notification.
The waiter will feel the Watch BUZZ/VIBRATE.
They can see the Message at a quick glance on the Watch.
The Notification screen is basically their TODO list of Table Requests.
No need to open the individual messages, all details will be seen on this screen.
When done with a task, they simply delete the notification.
To reduce Notification Noise, waiters can use an Email Account separate from their main account (Gmail allows you to create up to 4 accounts on it).
When your Venue is ready to go Live, you'll place Table Labels similar to this one on the tables for your Guests. Don't worry, you don't have to be an expert, we send you a Media Pack that you simply forward to a print shop.

Nope, slow email is usually caused by the configuration of companies' email clients and servers. They are usually set up to check new email not too frequently, to save resources.
If you use a service like Gmail (or configure your company server correctly), then things are Fast. The server sends/receives as quickly as possible, and the client checks very frequently (few seconds).
No, you can use smart phones (or even wall-mounted screens if it's fitting for your case). At the end of the day, it's just email :)
Smart Watches just make it very easy as they can be checked at a quick glance.
This is why it's best to create a dedicated email account (address) to receive Waver messages on. Gmail allows one person to have 4 email accounts. You can create more accounts on the Gmail app itself.
